working on it
This is an evolving system that started about 12 years ago. The only consistant items have been the Transparent cable (upgraded over the years with their program) and I started with Martin Logan Aerius i before upgrading to the Ascent.

Dipole speakers are effective in achieving 'true to the original' and are prime candidates for a distortion free amp to further contribute to that goal. A more significant advancement than will ever be achieved by top end gear, cables or tweaks.

The Proceed is better than many, but not as accurate as a few others, some of which are available at considerably less cost.

The Proceed's THD is right at the cutoff between mid and actual hi-fi at <0.1%, though they do not list IMD. The Output impedance, another crucial spec is well within a cutoff of <0.4ohm

But the frequency range the distorion is measured at is not even close to say 5hz-50khz. Going that far may significanly alter an otherwise acceptalbe distortion %

The vintagle Hafler DH-200/220 (100wpc/125wpc) usually available for $200, for instance shows a THD/IMD of <0.005% over a 5hz-100khz range.

As does the BEL1001 (out of business); Muse 160 (175wpc -$7-1400); any ATI (60wpc for a few hundred $ on up); the pricy Bryson line, and the Jeff Rowland 'works of art' at $8k, which you can hang on the wall they are so beautiful. Really, one model comes with an optional clear plastic cover to reveal its interior.

But you get the idea. This improvement on transparent dipole speakers will result in having to get rid of some albums in your collection due to their sonic characteristics, when discerned, having become now intolerable. Especially those with the over use of an expander for 'echo' by the mixing engineer: which they are famous for doing.

For what its worth, and on the oustide chance you aspire to 'true to the origina'. If so check out http://www.linkwitzlab.com there is wealth of knowledge and truth on all things audio you may continuesly return to as a referecne.

Thanks for your response Didactically, but why would I want to make my system sound worse? I really do not care what is right or wrong or about specs. I listen mostly to Rock and other very HEAVY recordings and the proceed has the power to command those recordings very well ( 250 per chan @ 8ohms and 500@ 4ohms. My system sounds great now with Rock and with everything else I can throw at it. Even bad recordings really do not sound *that* bad. If getting the system acurate means I can no longer listen to music I enjoy then that defeats the entire hobby for me. : )

Nice system synergy, definitely shows you have spent a good amount of times growing it over the years!

The Proceed is nice equipement and THD ratings are BS.

Lots of mid fi and crap fi have low numbers but that doesn't mean it sounds good.. I use to thrive on the specs and graphs back in the "Stereo Review" mag days...

If you have a chance my friend runs both of his ML Aerius stator panels into his PS Audio Powerplant 300 along with his CD/preamp and the difference was pretty amazing with the Multiwave one.. there is a ML web site that discusses the specific settings on the PS that works best with the stator panel. The noise floor dropped again.

Thanks Cytocycle, I am certainly happy with the Proceed and it has the Levinson sound, or a good part of it, at a reasonable cost. Maybe someday I'll get around to upgrading it but it is certainly not the weak link. Then again I have a Yamaha reviever with great specs I might throw in there : )
